Hello Oppo, I'm a long time lurker but have never posted. So I recently got into a car accident in my 08 Civic Si. I was driving and an old gentleman pulled out of a stop sign and we collided. He was really sweet and no one was hurt. His insurance is paying, and they might total the car. I am expecting approximately 10 thousand for it if they total it (is that stupidly unrealistic?)
Regardless, I have approximately 14 grand to spend. Do your worst oppo, send me cool cars for that amount of money. No mas VTec please, really wasn't a fan of the engine, sorry to all you fellow unicorn fart connoisseurs. Bonus points for creative thinking, turbos and rear wheel drive, and PLEASE SOME MODICUM OF RELIABILITY. I'd really like it if this car started frequently. Thanks!
Edit: I'm in the Denver area currently but am willing to travel a long way, as in a 750 ish miles to find a car. Also please post links, not suggestions to hypothetical cars, so shower me with Listings of Craig, ebay, etc. Thanks again.

Depending on your needs, you could have a Sky Redline, which means turbo 2.0
It is part of the ignition recall though.
Or a GTO. Find a 6.0L though.
Or if you want something really crazy, a Trailblazer SS.
All three are pretty reliable. All three are pretty fast. All three are really cool IMO.

I was about to post a GTO, but the MR2 I posted would probably be more fun

Civic Si to Cube would be such a downgrade....

But the lightness and the mid engine would be awesome for cornering

In the performance department maybe.

Lol yes I love GTOs. My friend has one of the nicest ones there probably is. Fastest car I've been in

Besides efficiency and maybe reliability, where wouldn't it be?
I know you have one and like it, so I mean no offense, but a Cube would be one of my last choices for a car ever. Especially with a CVT

Reliability is over-rated. Spend $12k on a car, and you can afford a lot of cab rides with the change. Anything in half-decent order will start most of the time, so it's all relative.
I'd have to say that what you want is an E30. They're not so cheap anymore, but you can get a really good one within your budget. That'll be more than reasonably reliable, and fairly practical.
Here's one that looks really nice:

Well under your budget for now.

You can have it with a manual, better audio system, my butt finds the Nissan seats to be better than the Civic seats, less...beige? I supposed is the word.

To me the cube is the automotive equivalent of lipstick on a pig with regards to beigeness. It looks interesting but it's really no more interesting than a Versa. A Civic Si is certainly less beige than one.

I'd set some parameters (doors, transmission, drivetrain, size) if you want realistic answers rather than random cool toys. And if you have 14k, I'd aim to spend 10-12, to leave yourself mod/maintenance money. Shouldn't be hard to find a decent 350Z in your range.
The one reason I want authorship is to be able to post "find me a car" threads...

Haha creative but i'm looking for a little newer than that! I would love a 325it 5sp but they're so damn hard to find.

I would probably use the $14k as a downpayment and finance either a low mileage C5 or a reasonably used C6 for ~$25k.
I've driven the C6, it's unreal. I'm trying to find a C5 to drive, but even if it's only 70% as good as the C6 it's a seriously good car. The only car I've driven that even comes close to the C6 is a Cayman R. Yeah, think about that for a second...

Loving all the suggestions so far, currently looking at e91 wagons!! if anyone has their eyes on some good ones lemme know. Especially RWD ones, I'm only finding AWD. Apparently people with wagons aren't supposed to do burnouts or something.
